Griffony

The brave knights of the Riddocian state of Griffony are led by their faith in Jesus, which serves as their sword and their shield. While all the nations of Ylinthia are primarily Christian in faith, the people of Griffony are among the most pious in the world, second only to Sanos. They use their powerful divine magic to smite the forces of evil as well as to heal and protect their valiant warriors. Known for the thundering hooves of their cavalry and the screeching cries of their griffons, the forces of Griffony ride to war, leaving the white shine of their divine enchanted weapons as the last thing the dark creatures they fight see.
Passive Abilities Learned at level 25
  • Improved Healing: Increases the amount of healing from the White Mage’s, Cleric’s, Paladin’s, and Radiant Mage’s healing spell.
  • Ranged Healing: Increases the range of the healing spell for your units.
  • Thoroughbred Mounts: Increases the health and damage of cavalry and flying cavalry units.
  • Terror of the Skies: Griffon units now cause fear.
Home Tile Ability (Level 25)
  • Blessed Ground: Your home tile now heals your units on it periodically.
Pinnacle Ability (Level 30)
  • Through Faith I Have No Fear: This upgrade gives all your units Iron Will (Immunity to fear and beauty).

Worker

The hard-working artisans of Griffony build the army’s war camps and gather the necessary resources to fuel Griffony’s war efforts.

The squires to Griffony’s knights are the basic soldiers in Griffony, often deployed to deal with bandits and minor threats to further their training.

Tier 1 ranged unit.
Ogre

Little more than larger Humans, the Ogres serve as the heavy infantry of the Griffony army. Ogres have long been steadfast allies of the Humans of Griffony.

Mages trained in divine magic, White Mages serve the armies of good as healers and spellcasters.

Tier 1 divine spellcaster unit. Has Heal spell that heals a friendly unit. Has Holy Orb spell that makes next attack deal AOE damage.
Armored Radiant Mage

Faythen is a special metal sharing many of the qualities of Mithril. Holy mana can be effortlessly channeled through Faythen, allowing Radiant Mages to enter battle armored and still cast their powerful spells.

Tier 2 armored divine spellcaster unit. Has Heal spell that heals a friendly unit. Has Holy Orb spell that makes next attack deal AOE damage.

  • Can learn Light spell that increases visibility.
  • Can learn Restoration spell that removes a debuff from a friendly unit.
  • Can learn Smite spell that high damage to a single target.
Crossbow Knight

Griffon Archer

The large four-legged birds known as Griffons serve as the state’s crest and namesake as well as the feared mounts their knights ride into battle.

Radiant Mage

White Mages of notable talent and faith, Radiant Mages are some of the most powerful divine spellcasters on Ylinthia, channeling the power of Heaven to smite the forces of evil and heal those in need.

Champion
The most elite knights of Griffony are promoted to the rank of champion.

Upgrades:

  •  Can learn Sweep Attack upgrade that gives Sweep Attack passive ability, causing this unit to hit nearby enemies to its target.
Cleric

Three orders of spellcasters exist on Ylinthia: Mages, Spellswords, and Spell Knights.

Mages are the most powerful of spellcasters, eschewing armor and weapons to instead focus on learning the most advanced spells. Mana is the energy that makes up spells and is used by spellcasters to form spells. Mana cannot be channeled easily through materials, especially metal, making spells require more mana. Thus, mages prefer wearing lighter materials such as cloth that don’t inhibit mana.

Spellswords are an order of mages that learn advanced spells and train to wear light armor while casting spells.

Spell Knights are an order of mages that can wear the heaviest armor while casting magic, but learn only basic spells. The heavy training required to cast spells through armor limits the time available to learn magic.

Falling under the category of Spellswords, Clerics are divine spellcasters trained in the use of light armor.

Tier 2 versatile spellcaster unit. Has Heal spell that heals friendly units.

  • Can learn Blessing spell that increases the damage of a friendly unit.
Paladin

A type of Spell Knight, the divine spellcasters known as paladins can wear the heaviest armor and still cast spells.

These pious warriors are among the most talented healers on Ylinthia, and often roam the lands, rooting out evil wherever it lurks and bringing it to justice.

Like most paladins, the paladins of Griffony use equipment made of Faythen, a lightweight metal attuned to divine energy. Like other attuned metals, Faythen adds its holy power to the powerful blows of the paladin. Paladins can place divine enchantments to further enhance their power. 

Tier 3 infantry unit. Has Paladin Heal spell that heals a friendly unit. Heals more than regular heal.

Upgrades:

  • Can learn Stalwart upgrade that gives Stalwart ability (immunity to stunned, chilled, and slowed).
  • Can learn Divine Barrier spell that blocks the next attack against a friendly unit.
Beacon of Light
The massive constructs known as Beacons of Light are Griffony’s mightiest warriors. 
BOOK SPOILERS

As part of the Riddocian Alliance’s army reorganization after the Three Shadow Kings War, the forces of Ylinthia prepared their armies for a potential next Shadow War. New troops were added to counter the various Shadows they had faced. Each army ensured they had a giant soldier known as a titan to account for the Shadow Abominations.

Griffony’s answer was to construct a new set of Beacons of Light. These beacons were embedded with a Gem of Light similar to the ones utilized by the previous Beacons that prevented the formation of Shadow Portals.

The Griffony enchanters enhanced the new Gems of Light to radiate divine power, sending surging waves of holy energy that heal the wounds of nearby allies.

Titan unit. Has Aura of Healing passive ability that heals nearby friendly units.

Castle Level 1
Capital building. Trains amount of units equal to build slots. If destroyed, you lose.
Castle Level 2
Upgrades Castle to Level 2, unlocking new units and buildings. Increases the maximum you can upgrade your max population to by 20. Increases your worker limit by 10. Increases your build slots by 1.
Castle Level 3
Upgrades Castle to Level 3, unlocking new units and buildings. Increases the maximum you can upgrade your max population to by 30. Increases your worker limit by 10. Increases your build slots by 1.
Castle Level 4
Upgrades Castle to Level 4, unlocking new units and buildings. Increases the maximum you can upgrade your max population to by 30. Increases your worker limit by 10. Increases your build slots by 1.
Armory
Upgrade and unlock building. Unlocks Tier 2 and Tier 3 units. Also unlocks promotion upgrades.

Army building. Unlocks Swordsmen, Crossbowmen, Spearmen, and Ogres.
